If we are going to go there, might as well add many more parameters from the CANBUS :). But agreed, FSD engagement status would definitely eliminate a lot of FUD.

If you can add an indication if FSD was on or off in the dashcam clips that'd be greaaaat

@chazman Seems like fsd indicator would be easy to spoof if it’s just an icon. Potential for nefarious purposes.

@chazman Why just the dashcam footage showing the car is running on FSD? Why not have the vehicle indicate to other road users that it's self-driving? It would be interesting, even safer, as other drivers would be alerted. And this exterior indication would also give Tesla free

@chazman I think Tesla will eventually need to add an external FSD engagement indicator, such as a green light. If Tesla ever gains permission to allow the driver to engage in other activities while driving, such as texting or sleeping, law enforcement will need to know it is being done

@chazman Or it would incite photoshopping by D O'D, et al. But yes, I'd love for there to be enough user-accessible telemetry recorded and sync'd to the videos to obviate or at least reduce the need for an in-cabin camera to record the screen.

@chazman There is clearly a reason they haven’t don’t this yet. I wonder if they even confirmed the videos they repost of something interesting happening where an owner claims they were using FSD .

@chazman I think it could add to FUD. Anyone would be able to watermark that image over their video and say FSD was on. Not sure how you get around that.

@chazman I think Elon may want to add parameters from CANIBUS first…

@chazman Most of the FSD FUD I’ve heard this month came from someone with such a dirty Tesla that his fingers got infected while yelling “BRAKE STABBING” 69 times in a one minute video.

@chazman I said this same thing, signal indicators, brake, speed. Would be good additional info to have for evidence in a crash or other incident.

@chazman Perhaps some CAN data screen overlay which can be activated in service mode similar on android phones (dev options).

@chazman Not just FUD but over hype as well. So many "FSD saved!" videos also include some driver intervention, too

@chazman Record the screen as a channel on the dashcam. Then it could be synced up with the videos.

@chazman To my opinion it's not so much the FSD users who are manipulating their videos, but rather Tesla itself. 😎 As reported, Elon Musk ordered that many FSD videos were intentionally created to deceive consumers. 🙂 Ashok also admitted in court to creating such a fake video. ☠️
