supabase on the aws blog today, talking about how we're building an "open warehouse architecture" the idea is simple: 1/ you store your data in Postgres 2/ postgres is automatically synced to Iceberg 3/ you query Iceberg with any analytical engine

this is huge
With Elixir v1.19 out of the door, @duboc_guillaume and I are able to focus on typing new features once again and we have made some fantastic improvements when it comes to typing maps:

what if @cloudflare had a native OLAP query engine that backed onto R2, supported Iceberg metadata, and tied into a streaming ingestion + transforms service? what if, huh?

Sounds like how we do tenant connection pools in @supabase Realtime ๐ค
Ecto repos are started/initialized/placed based on capacity to nearest region, migrated up on restarts, and queries/transactions/etc are RPC'd to wherever the target node lives. API requests hitting the dbs in their home region serve in 1-4ms. Cold starts serve resp in 130ms

Oh my... It actually works. I just spun up an app in a couple hours that allows me to just trace an area (or multiple areas) and it will spit out the quote based on our pricing formula. This was the part I thought I couldn't do, but turns out it's easy with Cursor. That means I

With @elixirlang you also don't need pgbouncer because you can just RPC to a few nodes owning your connection pool.

Someone show this man @elixirlang
gave myself 24 hours to think about it and i concluded i'm not a fan of the aws lambda managed instances i put up with the lambda model of computing for the upsides in operations - instant auto scaling up and down, charged per usage, no idle they interpreted this as oh you like

TIL Stripe has never burned a dollar of outside capital raised
I asked @gaybrick when @stripe will go public: "I think the better question is, why would we go public? What's the incremental benefit of going public? It's a bunch of work. It's a different way of operating. And there's a blurring of private and public investors. To this day

the realtime team at @supabase just made a topological change to the way "Broadcasts" work to reduce regional data transfer we run have elixir clusters in many regions (eg: us-east-1, eu-west-1, ap-southeast-1): previously, an event generated from an us-east-1 node would be

More interesting to me is this "file as a database at the edge" pattern used to "cache" these data https://t.co/C5zH9B8d0E

Cloudflare suffered a service outage on November 18, 2025. The outage was triggered by a bug in generation logic for a Bot Management feature file causing many Cloudflare services to be affected.
