Standing behind the biggest bully in the playground is not a sign of strength; it makes you complicit. America’s intervention demands unequivocal condemnation. We must always stand firmly for international law.

Disappointed by the failure of the Prime Minister to clearly state that our closest ally has violated Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter. Why have a lawyer as your leader if they are unwilling to uphold international law?

If you’re a Democrat with any real power, this is how you do it. Jason Crow went on Fox News and didn’t posture, didn’t flinch, didn’t dodge. He brought facts on Venezuela and absolutely wrecked the host. This is how you speak. This is how you go on Fox. And this is how you ruin

The attack on Venezuela and the kidnap of its President was a blatant breach of international law. Threats towards Colombia and Greenland show the US is willing to violate it again. The UK must call it for what it is. Staying silent only invites other leaders to follow suit.

I spoke to @bbc5live this morning about Trump’s illegal operation in Venezuela. Abandoning principles of international law in order to appease Trump signals a new era of US gangster politics. Failing to condemn his actions risks normalising violence, chaos & intimidation.

We must stand up to Donald Trump’s gangster politics. Instead, over Venezuela, the Prime Minister has again abandoned any pretence of defending international law in a shameful attempt to appease Trump. That weak approach to Trump will leave us all in a far more dangerous world.

This is my intervention in Parliament today on Venezuela. Trump’s attack on Venezuela is clearly contrary to the UN Charter and is therefore against international law. The obvious question has to be why can’t our own government not even acknowledge the argument on this.
