This might be just me, but I really like offprints of law review articles (whether mine or others’). Sure you can print it or read on a screen, but the bound copy with nice cover paper just feels so satisfying. In other news, here’s my new paper

Again, this challenges conventional wisdom. Lots of claims that IPR has had no effect on drug prices; I find many examples where it at least plays a role. Lots of claims that IPR is biased against drug patent holders; I find evidence of the opposite bias.

In another paper, I look at what happens when drug patents are challenged before the USPTO in inter partes review. In many cases (one example below), the result is robust generic entry and massive drug price drops

Charles Duan will join American University as Assistant Professor with a teaching and research interest in Patent Law. Duan is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Cornell Tech, and serves as a member of the Patent Public Advisory Committee of the USPTO.
