Steve’s been my manager for my entire 15 year career so far at Apple and I could not be more excited for this new era.
.@Apple enters a new chapter in Human Interface Design as Steve Lemay becomes the new leader of the team, working alongside Molly Anderson, head of Industrial Design at Apple. A veteran at the company since 1999, Lemay has shaped every major interface evolution from the original

Proud to be part of the team behind iOS26. Lots of fun new features like the redesigned text selection loupe. A malleable piece of glass that reacts to your movements and brings your content closer to you.

Thrilled to share the project we’ve been working on for the past year! Liquid Glass is a flexible material that constantly adapts to its size and environment, and lays the foundation for a unified design language across all our platforms.

The latest project I’ve been working on is the design of Liquid Glass, alongside an army of designers and engineers. We're designing it to bend and shape light while feeling like an elastic, flexible material that can dynamically shape shift, to make apps feel fluid and organic.

In the French word acceuillir, which means to receive or to welcome, we hear the sound of the word coeur, meaning heart. “How shall I receive you?” is the big question underlying the beginning of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. Big questions call for quiet answers. Thinking, feeling,

I did a short WWDC presentation where I share some of the thinking behind the design of the Dynamic Island, as well as a bunch of examples and pointers on how to design for it. Check it out in the second half of this talk: https://t.co/c1g0Txeoz4

Dynamic Island definitely wasn’t a solo effort. The industrial design, hardware, and software teams all worked in concert to design and build it. We worked together in an intensely collaborative process over years to make it happen, the only way to make a idea like this possible.

"The Dynamic Island feels not merely like a shape or dedicated area at the top of the screen, but like a real thing with personality. I have genuine affection for it already." So proud of this feature we worked on getting a really positive response. https://t.co/XGkBjUNa60

There are two super interesting innovations with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. There aren’t any interesting innovations with the iPhone 14 or 14 Plus — which fact itself is actually pretty interes...

The new project I designed arrives today - the Dynamic Island. Its goal is to feel like a living, elastic bubble that can fluidly shape shift into different alerts and experiences. This is just the start, but I’m excited to see it begin its life!

Excited to see full Drag and Drop come to iPhone, new in iOS 15. It works hand-in-hand with the iPhone’s gestural interface, enabling some super fast ways to move things between apps.

The Solar Dial Apple Watch face has almost completed a one-year trip around the sun! Very grateful to have had the opportunity to design this watch face, and honored to have worked alongside some really talented engineers to bring this dial to life.
