Three CEOS members of the Department of Environment and Geography, ran a field course on Lake Winnipeg last week. The course involved class lectures, followed by 3 days aboard the MV Namao, examining water quality gradients from the Red and Winnipeg Rivers #Fieldtrip

Dr. Durell Desmond (UofM) and Fernando Sanchez Quete (McGill University) captured these stunning shots of the Churchill landscape. The GENICEII project is focused on studying oil spills in the Arctic using Churchill Marine Observatory facilities. @RiddellFaculty

Maeva Gremaud, PhD from Switzerland, is simulating ozone & mercury depletion events at a mesocosm scale at SERF. For this she has 2 acrylic tubes, one blocking the UV & the other not blocking UV, in order to measure the difference in depletion related to sunlight.@RiddellFaculty

CEOS exciting news! The Sea-Ice Experimental Research Facility (SERF) is home to UM’s first Solar Panel Installation (8kW DC) that generates power for SERF and feeds excess energy back into the Manitoba Hydro grid. A big thanks to the UM Strategic Initiatives. @RiddellFaculty

CEOS enjoyed some Danish Christmas fun yesterday. Lead by Dorthe Dahl-Jensen, she shared a Danish Christmas tradition making Christmas Hearts and eating ‘æble-skiver’. Everyone enjoyed the celebration of the season. @RiddellFaculty
