It is wild how the everyday always exists alongside the extraordinary. Laundry needs to be folded, students advised, sunlight and rain make a 🌈, toddlers need to be potty trained, classes taught (well except in the summer!) and manuscripts written.

A nice microscope image from our lab (crystallization!) is apparently the new face of the department! The 'chevrons' are apparently the new ubiquitous motif across @EPrinceton.

Thrilled to celebrate the 6th PhD graduate from our lab, Dr. Emily Chen! 🎉. Emily's work elucidated how pore geometry & fluid rheology influence elastic instabilities of complex fluids in porous media. 🌊🌪️🔬. She now moves on to address problems in biological physics! 🦠

AI is clearly useful in many ways (and useless in many others). But my main reaction is that it makes me want to study neuroscience and networks and the origins of instinct. How can a tiny bird's brain know, without learning, how to build an intricate nest? It is remarkable.

Spent the day meeting with @EPrinceton freshman who are planning to join our CBE department in their sophomore year. Wonderful to welcome them to the department and see and share their enthusiasm.

Thankful today for @Princeton , springtime, and great colleagues and students. Note the toddler-picked daffodils (the entire flower AND stem must go in the water).

At ACS San Diego, spent some time today reading quotes along the MLK promenade near the convention center. This one (new to me) feels prophetic, and timely. Please read it.

3. 3D printing isn’t the only path forward!: Self-assembly could revolutionize architected materials—boosting throughput & enabling more efficient micro/nanostructures. The future could benefit in combining both towards scalable fabrication!

Meanwhile, amid everything, the Earth has just reached 430 ppm of CO2. When I was born (and I'm not THAT old!!) it was just 360 ppm . .
