“Miss it’s 2024, why are you still wearing a mask?” Let’s address the mask on my face - here’s why *I personally* choose to keep wearing it. Hopefully this helps make the elephant in the room a bit smaller. 😊

Re-reading is such a great pleasure, re-exploring the books and language you love, re-discovering their power, finding new things — whether it's a few paragraphs or the whole book. As Nabokov said, a good reader is a re-reader.

An absolute landslide for Chocolate Oranges this week - which means all the more Turkish Delight for me! Thanks for playing - there’ll be one final question of the year on Monday! #SchoolLibrary #SchoolLibraryLife #SchoolLibraryFun #QuestionOfTheWeek #WouldYouRather

Covid isn’t political. Flu isn’t political. Masks aren’t political. The first two are viruses. The third is basic infection control. Making them political is disabling & killing people. Bring back common sense & empathy.

I’m so sad to read this, and my thoughts are with Sophie’s family, and all who knew and loved her. Her books have been some of my staple comfort reads over the years, and they never failed to make me laugh. The Undomestic Goddess is one of my all time favourites.
We are heartbroken to announce the passing this morning of our beloved Sophie (aka Maddy, aka Mummy). She died peacefully, with her final days filled with her true loves: family and music and warmth and Christmas and joy. We can't imagine what life will be like without her. 1.

A really interesting discussion about reading, information and democracy. Highly recommended listening! The Death of Reading, an episode of the BBC World Service’s The Global Story programme, on BBC Sounds. https://t.co/2pcHZY0eUJ

Happy December everyone. If you’re buying Christmas presents for young people this year, consider buying them a book. Recent UK studies suggest that 1 in 12 young people aged 5-18 don’t have a book of their own (1 in 8 for disadvantaged children). Let’s encourage reading 📚

New month, so time for a round up of November’s statistics. A quieter month in the library borrowing-wise, due to exams, but still a busy one with lots of new books added to the shelves! #SchoolLibrary #SchoolLibraryLife #LibraryStatistics #LibraryInNumbers
