The @cbdbug is pleased to report after contacting Federal Transport Minister @CatherineKingMP, the safe, protected bikelanes for Sylvan Rd (which are receiving federal funding) will be completed by 2028. This great news!

Beware of doors.Recently one of our followers was a victim of a dooring. Please be careful when riding past parked cars. It is very difficult to see whether or not a car is occupied and a door can swing open at anytime. If possible, please remember to ride clear of parked cars.

The Pollies love to talk about Brisbane being "world class" but are we?.This is a standard Dutch style protected intersection, it is best practice and "world class" but nowhere in Brisbane do we have one. To be world class you don't just say it, you DO IT!.
'Dutch-style' intersections keep pedestrians and cyclists protected from cars as they cross or turn. Design features include corner islands, physically separated lanes that carry through the junction, and dedicated signal timings for non-motorised users.

Just a little reminder the old world cities such as London are moving ahead and continuing to roll out safe protection cycling infrastructure while a new world cities such as Brisbane does. 🤔.
London’s newest bike lane!!. Glorious morning to cycle over the new Lambeth Bridge bike lane. This was one of the most dangerous stretches of road to cycle in the capital. We’re transforming the bridge & junctions & protective barriers - making it safer for all. 🌷☘️ to come!

Normally @StreetSmartsQLD is very good with messaging, but this one is disappointing. They could have put anything in the thought bubble above the person on the bike but they chose the car being in the shop. It is disappointing seeing it portrayed as a compromise!.
A little understanding for other road users goes a long way. You're driving beside someone just like you — just trying to get through their day.

We are pleased to report after contacting @bne_lordmayor, @UrbanUtilities has now rectified the surface of the Elizabeth St CityLink cycleway. While not perfect is is now much safer!

As part of HSW application to change the site it is argued HSW doesn't need to upgrade the existing shared use path to segregated path as they will provide an unobstructed 6m wide shared use path. This is how the existing shared use path was being used this morning!

Brisbane could do the same if our political leaders had the courage that the Paris Mayor has!.
In just a decade, cycling in Paris has gone from fringe to mainstream; from an activity for the brave to one families enjoy together. Families like ours, who thought nothing of hopping on a Vélib’ and pedaling along its extensive network from one corner of the city to the other.

Today's council meeting has now begun in which the petition calling for the sub standard HSW shared use path to be upgraded to a safer, higher amenity segregated path in will be presented. As if on que, today HSW once again used the active transport corridor as a truck park!
