Accents can take a bit to adjust to before they can understand what youre saying to translate! So if you can, chat with your translator before your presentation so they are not surprised when it is go time 🏁(4/n).

4) Speak slower!. Translators dont literally translate what you're saying but what you mean. They usually translate for a wide variety of topics and may not be familiar with your niche. Some may even refuse to translate if not given advance review due to liability reasons .(3/n).

Their top recommendations were. 1. Give the presentation to the translator to review in advance📊.2. Discuss technical terms and their meaning. A word in a different language can have a different connotation! 🔏.3. Pause before advancing to slides so they can catch up💨 .(2/n).

SPIM: Abundance overestimated w/ inflated precision. But more ID covariates improved and stabilized performance. Coverage was ~95% when cohesion was low and decent probability of ID (>50%). TLDR: Acceptable with low nonindependence, enough ID covariates, and detection probability.

Spatial Count: consistently underestimated abundance, increasingly w/ larger group sizes that moved together. Precision was poor across all scenarios (CV>20%) and coverage never reached 95%. TLDR: Only appropriate for independent species or periods when they're independent.

PAPER: We ran sims with Spatial Count and Spatial Partial Identity Models to assess performance when animals are nonindependent. Increased aggregation (group sizes) cohesion (movement together). Take Home: Apply v. carefully, avoid SC for group species! ️.
