These aren’t “budget adjustments.” Cutting aid during a cost-of-living crisis would be a deliberate choice to make education less accessible and to tie students’ futures to their parents’ income, not their individual ability. 8/9

Cutting student financial assistance is not the right strategy to save money. It deepens inequality and locks students out of opportunity while living costs keep climbing. 7/9

Let’s be clear about who would pay the price: • Students with disabilities • Students with children • Low and middle income families • First-generation students 6/9

If this expansion expires, the impact would be devastating for hundreds of thousands of students across Canada. 5/9

But there’s a serious risk ahead. The federal government has not confirmed whether the temporary CSG increase (from $3,000 to $4,200) will continue past July 2026. 4/9

Canada Student Grants (CSG) are one of the most effective federal investments Canada makes: ➡️Expanding access to education ➡️Strengthening the workforce ➡️Delivering more public benefit than they cost. 3/9

In the last decade, tuition has increased by 20%, rent by 40%, and food prices by 30%. Yet more than 700,000 students rely on Canada Student Grants each year to access post-secondary education. 2/9
