My first icon is still in progress (and has been on hold for far too long), but I tend to think it's a bit better than anything you'll see from Rupnik...

She is a stereotype wrapped in a caricature and covered with silly sauce. This is typical of today's ideological technocratic mediocrity: try to create panic about a vague and questionable potential crisis while ignoring (and, ironically, adding to) the ongoing and very real

This third album by The Smile—consisting of 2/5ths of Radiohead (Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood) and drummer Tom Skinner—came out a year ago. It's probably my favorite of the three, although each is excellent. No surprise, the lyrics are full of angst and despair and all that

Yes, the enthusiasm! And the photo captures it: the synodal joy, the processed wonder, the inclusive ecstasy! In comparison, the Day of Pentecost in the Upper Room looked like a wake at a Jesuit retirement community!

From an excellent @cworldreport essay by @MatthewBecklo: What exactly were these proto-Gnostics “dreaming” about? Jude, interestingly enough, doesn’t examine and dismantle their beliefs in the manner of Irenaeus’s Against Heresies a hundred years later (as important as this kind

DeJohnette's discography is staggering in both quantity and quality. Remarkable musician. His trio albums with Keith Jarrett and Gary Peacock are among my favorites. But there is so much. Revisiting some of them today. R.I.P.
Last year, Jack DeJohnette spoke with Hank Shteamer about a rare solo concert on his first instrument: the piano.

I'm not cranky, I'm angry. I'm not beautiful, I'm handsome. I'm not cynical, I'm realistic. I'm not unwashed, I'm unkempt. I'm not mean, I'm sarcastic. I'm not a hoarder, I'm a collector. I'm not ignoring you, I'm self-caring. I'm not cold; I lost my key to the house.

Prayer is one of those mysterious actions that everyone knows about—how many people can honestly say they’ve never uttered a prayer?—but is strangely elusive when it comes to being defined. There are so many aspects of prayer, both external and internal, that the heart of prayer

As usual, @ThomasReeseSJ laments that orthodox priests refuse to capitulate to the dominant culture, especially re: sexual morality. And, of course, he never mentions fidelity to Christ, dogma/doctrine, the deposit of faith, etc. His golden calf consists of condoms,
“If the younger clergy aggressively push their political and theological views on the Catholic people, church attendance will continue downward, and fewer Americans will identify as Catholic.” 🤡🤡🤡

GK described 2025 in 1908: "To sum up our contention so far, we may say that the most characteristic current philosophies have not only a touch of mania, but a touch of suicidal mania. ... It is vain for bishops and pious bigwigs to discuss what dreadful things will happen if

"She knew. I didn't." This man is not a "Dad". He's a brainwashed, semi-cognizant fool. I suspect his other half wears the cultural pants, butters the emotional bread, and tells him what to feel (as he clearly isn't interested in thinking).
Dad claims toddlers can understand their gender identity; his daughter knew she was trans by age two and a half. https://t.co/blIkP77aso

Meanwhile, @TinaKotek, @RonWyden, @RepDexterOR and Co. insult and mock—like petty children—anyone who points out the actual state of Portland and places in Oregon. They've had DECADES to address this and many other problems, but they have only made things much worse. Their
Portland, Oregon used to be the city of roses. It’s now the city of trash. I filmed every one of these videos and added areas of Portland just to show it’s not concentrated in one specific area. I found so much footage this could’ve been a two hour movie.

More from @cworldreport on the violence, destruction, and persecution in Nigeria. We posted this late yesterday:
"Nigerian church leaders welcome conclusions confirming Christian genocide": @NgalaChimtom writes @cworldreport about a report, spanning 2010-2015, revealing a campaign of devastation that has claimed 185,000 lives—including 125,000 Christians and 60,000 nonviolent Muslims.

A Democrat in Oregon is someone who demands more taxes, money, and regulation to control unproven, future events, while refusing to acknowledge and address the obvious crises of social decay, political corruption, cultural collapse, educational failure, technocratic ineptness,
This executive order will unlock the incredible promise and power of our natural and working lands by implementing proactive policies that protect priority lands and waters and help landowners manage their landscapes to withstand and recover from the impacts of climate change.

"Run! It's a fascist fruit!"
Proud to support @SenJeffMerkley on the floor today as he sounds the alarm on Trump's creeping authoritarianism. My family fled Nazi Germany. We know a thing or two about what happens next.
