Outreach isn’t about handing them a phone number to call. It’s about building rapport, then building trust. Sometimes it takes a lot of effort and it means immersing yourself in that community. Not everyone will agree with me, but I’ve done this work a long

Every outreach worker should know every homeless person’s name, their history, their barriers, their trauma, their history of addiction, who their friends are, their goals and even their likes and dislikes.

Five years ago in the first few months of Covid I made this short sarcastic video about how the world was overreacting. This is me delivering a letter to a coworker. Estimates suggest there was $2 trillion dollars job loss revenue in lifetime earnings of affected workers.

I apologize for my introspective moment. I’ve been thinking about something many of us experience daily. Many of us live in communities where everything is chained, locked, guarded, or under constant surveillance. Over time, existing in an environment like

It was the post where @tarafaul503 and I got a homeless teenager off the streets and back to his home in Salem. She was clearly touched for a few minutes, liked it, and then followed me. She probably then looked me up or someone told her who I was and promptly unfriended me.

Today, Rosie O’Donnell, liked one of my posts on Instagram, followed me and then unfollowed me minutes later once she realized who I was. I’m going through a whirlwind of emotions.

I’ve seen a significant uptick in Homeless who live next to the river on the river or on the islands in the middle of the river. This is a natural result when you have a system, unable or unwilling to end homelessness.

A homeless man I met who did not wish to be on camera said he used to live downtown but was able to acquire cheap boats and decided to live on the river. He said enforcement is rare and one of the best decisions he’s ever made.
