“Committing” here could be defined on a large scale e.g. getting married, or a smaller but still important scale, e.g. not prioritizing the “anxious” partner’s needs. It seems likely that in this highly individualistic era, more couples would struggle with this.

How much of what we call “anxious attachment” is actually the pain of committing to a noncommittal partner?.

Ever since I found community who accepts the real me (with varying degrees of closeness), I feel like I've leveled up significantly. I don't recognize that old self, and it happened so fast! I don't think I could have done this alone. (Also, go read @majamediaco's essay!).

I appreciate the pushback I've gotten on this post. My experience is based on isolating due to fear of rejection, which I convinced myself was trying to learn to be happy without external validation. I couldn't do it.
