Silent Spring. A country lane I've walked for years, poignant silhouette of a lost time. The only surviving Tree Sparrow box on trees that used to hold a healthy population, all now silent. Thankfully just 200m away Yellowhammer, Linnet & House Sparrow cling on, just @LandRbirds

A friend of mine has 14 Green Sandpiper wintering in the Soar Valley north of Leicester (a known site, but easier to count in flood conditions). Anyone know of any other sites with those kind of numbers in winter? (image courtesy Birdguides app)

Hadn't realised just how close the American Yellow Warbler is to the site of the legendary Golden-winged Warbler we saw in the Tesco car park back in Feb 1989! (boc shot grabbed from the gent next to me, thanks 🙂) @BirdGuides

Really slow at Hicks Lodge this morning, although a few Lesser Redpoll in the last 30 minutes has livened things up. @LandRbirds @ForestryEngland

Is this just a Silver Y? Probably the result of having too few moths to look at 😂 thank you @MOTHIDUK

Saw my first Dipper at Dovedale Derbyshire when I was 14, a magical moment for a YOC 'Young Ornithologist' I remember like it was yesterday! Been back numerous times since, but no Dippers, until today with 3! Seems like the flood state has brought them up river. @Natures_Voice

Just walking down a main path a Bradgate. Several Red Deer stags belowing this afternoon & getting ready for the rutt. Antler rubbing & drooling, fabulous time of the year. @LeicsWildlife

Ringing at Hicks Lodge (pretty quiet 😢) a few Goldcrest including this male which sat for a few seconds before heading off. It left a little present 🫣. @LandRbirds

Thanks to everyone who supported Jane, she did it 🙂 The LOROS ride was amazing (250 riders), so well organised, such a great spirit and raised lots of money for an incredible organisation @LandRbirds @LOROSHospice

My wife Jane is cycling 100 miles around Leicestershire in aid of LOROS Hospice on 7th September. This is in memory of our friend Simon, who sadly passed away there in February aged just 35. If you are able to support please visit https://t.co/K3AUz5gXJi

Great session at Hicks Lodge Leics this AM @ForestryEngland with 7 species of Warbler. Huge surprise and delight with juv Willow Tit but tinged with sadness as they fade in to oblivion in this part of the world 😢 Adult Reed Warbler with huge bill was a head scratcher. @LREntSoc

A rare thing in VC55, a cob (mud) wall which no doubt over many many decades, has served as a perfect 'bee hotel'. Ashby Magna, Leicestershire @LREntSoc

First ringing session of the 'Autumn' at Hicks Lodge near Ashby, Leics. Good selection of mainly juvenile birds, but numbers quite low. Did include this lovely juv Lesser Whitethroat with typical loose juv feathering & dull grey eye. @LandRbirds @ForestryEngland

@LREntSoc Update - the first record from 2022 apparently involved 4 individuals so the ones this week were 5th - 8th. More importantly in 3 'new' locations in SW Leics
