This is a very well observed point on the subject of the real experience of inflation as opposed to the headline rate. Public policy makers are consistently refusing to accept responsibility for the impact of a series of remarkably poor decisions in this respect.
@CWeston_Indo as a matter of government policy every input cost has been pushed up, and hard. If the government wants to look for culprits, it should look within.

Public policy has actively undermined the international competitiveness of our tourism product for the last 3 years. Soon a politician somewhere will be expressing shock at the notion that actions have consequences. At least its not Irelands largest regional employer. oh wait. .
The buses aren���t coming ,you can’t hear the accents, we are bracing ourselves for the perfect storm. Unfortunately many won’t survive this summer. Drastic measures are needed. VAT 9%. Surely the government can see this . 🤷♂️ Our tourism economy is in tatters. 😢

You might imagine those hoteliers deciding to turn their back on the hospitality industry, would choose to keep quiet, & hope no one would notice the damage being inflicted on the industry - but instead. What in the world do they hope to achieve with this nonsense
