It looks like there’s a way we could have some impact and help people in Iran. It’s quite simple and doesn’t require a lot of effort.

After becoming aware of the
@SubClub
fundraiser
#SaveOurSub
, we did a quick search and came across a
@BBCNews
article from 2016 about one of the Sub Club’s co-owner’s companies (Jacobs & Turner) which was accused of tax avoidance by HMRC , after investing in high-profile movies
Roman Flügel spent the past year working on his album and in a vaccination centre in Berlin for 30hrs a week.
A very interesting read confirming our point, that big DJs had alternatives to playing plague raves.
One year ago Resident Advisor launched their
#SaveOurScene
campaign.
A year later, it is evident that Resident Advisor saved itself (for now) at the cost of the scene it pretends to represent.
£750,000 and not a single word about last week's illegal rave, which included some of their favourite DJs, all while even non-music press reported on it. Looks like the RA funding went to good use.
#SaveOurScene
12.5 - Resident Advisor directly profited from the plague raves by offering its services to the promoters cashing in an average of 12.5% per ticket. Reckless.
What has Resident Advisor done which is culturally relevant? They’ve been leading the whitewashing of Black culture since the start and y’all act surprised that the UK government wouldn’t honour that? Maybe you should’ve thought twice about what “scene” you wanted to save..
So the same people who spent the last months touring the globe thanks to the government's handling of the pandemic are the loudest ones that are crying now as the same government announced a four-week delay to COVID19 lockdown easing in England.
Do me a favour!
The illegal raves are playing right into the government’s hands. They have fucked this whole thing up so bad .... now they are looking for something, anything to blame it on.

European dance music is fine with black American ghetto house music as long as it’s being played by some white European guy called DJ Weeping Urinary Tract Infection who used his college money to move to Berlin.
Last weekend Maceo Plex threw a glass into the crowd during his set at Warung injuring a young woman on top of other incidents that night.
Neither Resident Advisor, Mixmag nor DJ Mag have addressed it in their “News” section.
Why are music journalists so obsessed with ending any coverage of the plague raves? Just because they’ve generated a few clicks and majorly moved to Mexico and South America, doesn’t mean the problem is solved now.
for them it’s about cancelling their favourite DJs
for us it’s about trying to keep our families & friends safe
for them it’s about protecting a system that benefits them
for us it’s about trying to keep our families & friends safe
we are not the same
One of the biggest issues why the nightlife industry is where it’s at is because the fact that we’ve allowed white cis men who’ve never contributed anything meaningful to buy themselves in and act like they’re relevant.
Looking at the number of people who are outraged about Gordo’s behaviour and the music press covering the issue makes one wonder where all these people were when Fred Again & The Black Madonna pulled the same trick on BAMBII a few months ago?
In a few years someone will do a Fyre Festival like Netflix documentary called “Betting on Business Techno” exploring how big festival promoters kept announcing new huge festivals during a pandemic to generate cash flow and keep an inflated machine running.

The cheapest ticket to the Sandbank Rave with Ricardo Villalobos costs $150.
According to World Bank data from 2017, about 76.8% of the Tanzanian population live off less than $3.20 a day.
We offer no opinion, just the facts.
there's a correlation between non black DJs that share media of black people getting murdered on socials but think DJs criticising a rich white DJ jetting to Africa for cash during a pandemic is causing division in their "scene"
Often we’re irritated when we see posts like these. We ask ourselves is this the same Nastia who just came back from her South America tour less than a week ago? The same Nastia who regularly played shows last year?

1 black square without any message
24 IG Posts (in less than a month) later you announce a line up with zero black artists. At this point every artist on this Line Up should ask themselves what message they’re sending out with agreeing to participate in this.
“They don’t need to do this!”
“Take a year off, write an album. So many people lower down in dance music are struggling and this paints the whole industry in a bad light. It’s just that their egos need constant massaging.”

Sven Väth has played countless so-called plague raves - including dates in countries struggling to cope with COVID19..
So, why let him headline a government sponsored return to raving? The optics don't seem right.

we've seen quite some bad takes from
@solardomusic
in the past few years but them & their management trying to discredit our work is ridiculous. It is not like Tulum is the only plague rave they've played. So what's the point denying this one??
What if the DJs who're not happy with the plague raves actually cared about potential harm/deaths these events might cause? What if it's not about them being bitter about missing out on getting big cheques for pushing buttons in front of kids recording them for the gram?
Opinions on Eric Prydz comments might vary from slight agreement to very strong disagreement but what we all can agree on is that tweeting Techno hot takes is a very strong improvement from the epidemiology & virology takes..
"It’s irresponsible to be out there at the moment based on how everyone is trying to do the right thing to get past this. Having a party in a pandemic, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. People are still suffering from this and we aren't out of yet."

Are there no good DJs in Liverpool or the rest of UK
@CIRCUSmusic
could’ve booked instead? Maybe we’re out of the loop but we thought the UK had a lot of great DJs who didn’t tour for +1 year and would’ve been thankful for a gig now without having to travel too far..
“It’s drawn a line between the artists who think like businessmen and strategise on how to extract as much money as possible from everything, and the people who are driven by creativity.”

People are against plague raves for different reasons. Some hate that they’re not allowed to attend raves themselves others are upset that they’re not the ones being booked and then there’s the ones who don’t want POC to die disproportionately as a consequence of these raves.
It was really weird to see a mixture of far-right figures, antiv*xers, COVID19 deniers and DJs who’ve been exploiting other countries vulnerabilities bond together to
#SaveOurScene
at this
#FreedomToDance
rave.
Today marks the fifth consecutive day India breaks the COVID19 infection record with hospitals desperate for oxygen. Although experts had expressed concerns earlier this year, many DJs still went to tour in India. There’s no point in saying Dixon, Nastia, Sven Väth
It’s disappointing to see how many music journalists dropped their plague raves articles after we made clear that we’re not doing an interview with them. Obviously it was more about them having a “hot story” than actually addressing the threat of these plague raves.
