Remembering the wonderful Mollie Sugden, born on this day in 1922. She was a key ingredient in the success of Are You Being Served? and her wonderful Mrs Slocombe brought Capt Peacock down to earth like no other. and I am unanimous in that. #FrankThornton #AreYouBeingServed

Safe to say that HMS Paradise wasn't the success that #FrankThornton might have hoped for when writer Lawrie Wyman tried to repeat the success of The Navy Lark. 26 episodes were made (and seemingly lost) but critics had no time for it, despite a strong cast. Started 16 July 1964
