I'm working on defining a new discipline called Advocacy. There's a shift from a marketing-centric product approach, to a support and education approach. The user has more power in the product relationship with a company. This is the future. Here are 12 ideas.

Not going to lie, I absolutely love Helio for the most egregious and self-serving research. There needs to be more humor in research.

Yep, it’s pink. We asked 100 meat-loving cooks how they would rate the new pink burger from @BurgerKing. We won’t lie; not even Pepto Bismo could save some participants from this sh*t show. 3/10 median Helio rating. Let’s dive into the participants' commentary! . A🍔thread👇

My billionaire screw-ups, the psychology of getting team buy-in, and charging people to give you feedback. I had fun chatting with @tshanksoars, thank you.

"As long as the work gets done, nobody cares." . It's a phrase that keeps popping up. There's so much to unpack in this persuasive statement. • Is work ever done? .• Is mentorship happening?.• Are people truly self-aware?.• Which people don't care?.• How do you know?.

We had the good fortune to work with the Admired Leadership team. This is a wonderful endorsement from @ShaneAParrish. The program is an amazing collection of 400 unique behaviors exhibited by successful leaders. Some are quite surprising, all are pragmatic.

I'm a creative thinker you don't say? I guess beauty isn't part of the profile. Interesting exercise. Kept me entertained, though my impatience had me wanting questions faster.

Psychological safety is a bit of a misnomer in creative teams. Creative expression requires having to contend with the uncomfortable feelings of growth and failure. It's what makes the ride more rewarding and purposeful.

If you start your learning curve slightly ahead of the audience, your satisfaction in the process will create momentum with the audience. Timing is difficult, but consistency is more valuable.

Audiences on the other hand tend to ignore you until they become familiar with your work. Studies have found familiarity creates desire. It's limited though. After exposure of 8+ times people become less attracted to your creation.

As a creator, learning something new can be filled with frustration and deadends. It's disheartening. It usually gets worse before it gets better. As we gain knowhow with time, our satisfaction also increases. Malcolm Gladwell said it takes 10,000 hours to master something.

The challenge of building an audience as a creator is figuring out how to master something new while your audience grows a desire for what you create. These two usually go in different directions.

If you're Bezos, you've been delivering packages in a pandemic nonstop for a year. and then Elon, out of the blue, sells all his possessions, passes you on a money list, and sends rockets into space. He's having fun. It got real. Time is limited.

What we need right now is to believe in something great. This shot of Elon's Starship Spacecraft evokes a sense of curiosity and American ingenuity. It feels like a movie storyline. Only it's real.

Is it just me, or do you also think the Amazon trucks make you feel like you are in some dystopian Playmobile Playworld created by Bezos? . It's like the world is his toybox and we just keep feeding his fantasies.

Bezos stepping down as CEO isn't surprising. He has grander visions that are limited by running a huge commerce business. There's just not enough time in the day. Here's a revealing interview I analyzed.

Bezos had incredible business instincts. I've helped hundreds of founders build things—on the first watch of the following interview, we see a dorky founder yapping about his company. A closer inspection reveals 15 amazing founder skills. 👇

When I'm visualizing outcomes (like a run or performance) it's a first-person experience scenario with motion. It usually never has words, but sometimes sounds. Speaking to my kids, they have 3rd person visualizations. This is rare for me.

When I'm emotional, my ideas are unspecific and overlap in ways that without definition or continuity. There are flashes of inspiration. It's a cloud of visual ideas that are amorphic, but mixed with images that have some specificity. More dream like. No clear story.
