“The Tale of Two Grids” is a very short one: upstate NY has 3 nuclear power plants & its electricity is 92% zero-emission…whereas downstate NY has no nuclear plants (after shutting them all down) & its electricity is now 89% fossil fuels. What is the moral of this story?

Love this quote from my friend Josh Legere: "We have to find a way to restore the value and dignity of individual human beings."

“For those in the second grade…learning behind plexiglass and masks, learning to read without seeing their teachers’ mouths and no physical contact on the playground is all they’ve ever known. This is outrageous, dangerous and fear-based.”

The Omicron surge is scary. But schools must stay open.

Feeding people is an endless series of compromises. There's no one ideology or diet that's correct. We muddle through, improving every aspect of our food system as best we can.

“We’re using one huge problem—the carbon emissions from food waste—to solve another, which is the global plastics problem, and petroleum plastics as a whole,” says Dane Anderson, cofounder and co-CEO of Full Cycle Bioplastics. https://t.co/fah7IApf4l

I increasingly believe in the idea of term limits for leaders. Business, church, government. The benefits of fresh eyes and energy outweigh the risks of losing experience.

Excited to watch this; great panelists & my favorite moderator @iamlbt - but I have yet to see any carbon scheme that tangibly benefits THE FARMER (though some carbon programs benefit other supply chain stakeholders) -
Carbon and environmental markets are a major opportunity for #ag innovation to move the needle on #ClimateChange. On Sept. 1, join @iamlbt at @AgTechNEXT for the Climate Investment session. Registration is 100% free: https://t.co/Kimlv0A7vX

Nitrogen fertilizer is the climate version of double-dipping: producing it is hugely energy-intensive and much of what’s applied volatiles to form a GHG that’s more than 100X the heat-trapping of CO2. 2/2

When people talk about why the pandemic spread so rapidly, no one seems to mention that America is the only advanced country with no guaranteed paid sick days. How many of the 35 million cases were the result of people having to work while sick to avoid poverty?

While 1 in 9 Americans are food insecure, the billionaire head of an entrenched online grocer spends his cash to go to space. What an asshole.

My brother makes a good point here: "The whole goal that everybody's talking about is to increase zero emission electricity, yet they are shutting down the source of the vast majority of zero emission electricity," said Dawson. "So this drives us insane."

“The problem also can be addressed by bringing circular design into the bioeconomy, especially around creative ways to avoid the need for new resource extraction” | Our #bioplastic accomplishes this by using #foodwaste rather than competing for resources! https://t.co/Mra2IaLgQn

Corporate strategies for preserving biodiversity and embracing the circular economy can sometimes be one step removed from (and even in conflict with) each other.

Well, the CDC's guidance for summer camps is probably the most draconian and insane thing the agency has said during the pandemic: masks, distancing, even for kids, no sports, no contact, no nothing.
