25 years ago, Chancellor Gordon Brown sold the UK'S gold reserves at $275 an ounce circa ยฃ3.5bn. Yesterday, gold reached the $4K. Had he had the foresight to keep these reserves the UK finances might have been ยฃ35bn to the good. Mr B - Prudence? That was carrying it way too far!
