Just finished reading "Engulfed" by @JamesPiotr, it is a brilliant but very worrying look at how the sports we love are being bought and exploited for geopolitical gains. #againstmodernfootball.

Just finished reading "Doctor Socrates" by @adowniebrazil - what a facinating/sad insight into the life of a brilliant footballer, who was also an intellectual, social activist and bohemian party animal. They don't make them like that anymore!.

Slightly different post this week: the story of a recent football tourist trip to the Basque Country. With special mention to @JervisEvans and @emctear whose books were the perfect accompaniment to the trip. #AthleticClub #sdeibar #footballtourism.

It’s all my dad’s fault! The reason that Our Kid (my brother for the benefit of those of you that don’t hail from the north west of England!) and yours truly are completely hopeless football obsess…

Just finished reading "Groundhopper" by @MattCoughlanUK just like his first book "Turncoat" it was a fantastic read. I would recommend that anyone who has grown, or is growing, disillusioned with the money-mad world of modern football read both straightaway!.

Can't believe it took me so long to discover it, but just read "Journeyman: One Man's Odyssey through the Lower Leagues of English Football" by @bsmudger7, a fascinating insight into the trials and tribulations of trying to forge a career in the lower leagues.

Just finished "Football: The People's Shame." by @MickyPKerr - a brilliant analysis of how the greed of the few is destroying modern football, with some brilliant thoughts and ideas on how we might reclaim the game we love. Cracking read!.
