From 1982 to 1984, Hüsker Dü recorded four projects with SPOT. We worked at Total Access in Redondo Beach CA, mostly during the discounted overnight hours. SPOT always encouraged free expression and experimentation, even as those recordings were made as expeditiously as possible.
Beaster was released 30 years ago today. Fun fact: Beaster debuted at
#3
on the UK Pop charts. The walls of my Williamsburg loft were painted industrial green. The large plexiglass art tray is in storage. The cross is in my current work room.
Ten years ago, I was the DJ between bands at Milton Keynes Bowl (now called National Bowl). Foo Fighters were the headliner, and I would join the band each night to perform “Dear Rosemary”.
Today, Leeds. After five days of massive coughing and many colors of deep chest phlegm, I had to get some help. Thanks to the NHS ambulance staff and the follow-up NHS health worker for their superb care. Seven days of amoxicillin will stanch the chance of pneumonia. Good show!
Anton Fier brought endless power, emotion, and intensity to all the music he created and touched. I learned so much about music from Anton. I’m so grateful for the time we had together. Rest In Peace, my friend.
Happy 10th Anniversary, Silver Age! I’ll have more to say about Silver Age and Copper Blue on Tuesday. Until then, have a wonderful weekend — long weekend for the US.
Ninety minutes of that disgraceful being — Trump — in stark, belligerent, grotesque detail. Had enough yet? Oh wait, the shout out to his white supremacists.
An enterprising young fellow gained access to the roof of our neighborhood USPS building and is throwing down late 90s garage and house tracks with a laptop and portable speakers.
Thrilled to share that the band & I will open for the

SPOT was a wonderful soul who loved making music, documenting the scene, and unconditionally supporting all the projects that bear his name.

Many people in SF vote by mail. My partner and I spend hours studying the candidates and their positions, as well as researching and discussing the state and local ballot measures. As November 8 approaches, I strongly encourage all Americans to vote.
Greetings from California. Quick update: The IE/UK dates are still on sale, but the tour is uncertain at the moment (Thu 30 Dec 2021). I hope to have clear guidance for everyone in early January 2022. I appreciate your patience as we navigate these choppy waters.
Thank you Los Angeles! Super fun night. Song of the night: American Crisis. Special thanks to our pal Fred Armisen for joining us at the end of the evening.
