I don’t think people understand what they’re watching in OKC honestly.
Shannon Sharpe: "Let us get OKC in the Western Conference Finals. I guarantee it! . If the Lakers get the OKC Thunder in the Western Conference, we are going to the NBA Finals!". Stephen A. Smith: "Shannon need to be drug tested." 😂.

People legit don’t understand how transcendental of a player Wade was at the peak of his powers until you actually play some tape of the man. Unreal athlete with some of the freakiest physical traits of any guard to ever play this game.
It's so crazy to think that the NBA at one point had a player who moved with the flexibility, balance, and angles of Shai. but with the explosiveness of Anthony Edwards.

Steph is moderately behind Dame in all of these categories while playing 4 less minutes per game, and is moderately less efficient while having an insurmountably higher offensive load. We can be disingenuous but it’s a bad look.
Dame averages more PTS, REB, AST, and STL while being more efficient and a much better defender. We are talking about THIS year, not their careers. Dame has very clearly been better.

@washed1000 Maybe but at the same time Jokic occupies a defensive position far easier to target and is inherently more valuable.

Imagine coming up with the dumbest arbitrary criterion to keep LeBron out of being a Lakers great… that simultaneously keeps out Jerry West… the guy who is deadass Mr. Lakers, out of being a Lakers great.
Ric Bucher says you need 10 years of service and 3 championships to be considered a Lakers great . "LeBron isn't an all-time Lakers great.". (🎥 @SpeakOnFS1 ).

@na7ural_ That’s not how that works, players having an higher offensive burden and playing on a roster more devoid of offensive creation is going to signal a slight decline in efficiency relative to someone playing in a less strenuous offensive context.

@Savcon3 Just by nature of the way the game is played now as opposed to then, I just don’t think Moses was as susceptible to being targeted to the degree Jokic is today, nor was he, relatively, as detrimental a defender when he was scoring 30 or close to it as Jokic.

@Koolaidcooling disagree with that vehemently. Braun/AG are probably the ideal archetype of defensive you’d want to surround him with, and even someone like Russ has been additive in the role he’s been asked to execute on that end.

Btw whoever is saying “2023 iS His PeAk” is an absolute loser because there’s truly no discernible difference in Jokic between now and then aside from the fact that he’s playing ACTUAL high quality teams/defenses and we’re seeing the difference.
Someone’s “top 5 peak ever” currently has a 49.61 TS% this series, 55.5% for these playoffs in big 2025 man.

@jfeltonnn I don’t think there’s an actual scenario where a guard is in a position to give up that much. Not to mention that, as much as I love Nash, his scoring totals just don’t reach this kind of convo.

Man, I absolutely fucking WISH KG had a modicum of the talent, and lineup versatility Ant has had to play with during his Minnesota tenure. Cuz then we wouldn’t have to see dumbass rhetoric like this.
Anthony Edwards is already the greatest hooper to ever play for the Timberwolves 🐜 . That's no disrespect to Kevin Garnett. The Big Ticket was a beast during his time at Minny. But individual accolades aside, Ant's already cleared KG and any other player that donned a

@ManuEBC2 This is apparently acceptable defense to be compared to top 5 players to ever play this game.

From ‘89-‘91, Jordan shot 70.8% at the rim (7.3 attempts per game) and 47.1% from midrange (11.2 attempts per game). What a special scorer bro lmao.
I'm proud to say that we now have shooting data for Michael Jordan's entire playoff career. Here is a summary but for a breakdown of each postseason plus some individual games, check out the RealGM thread:

The guy legit creates or exploits practically every advantage in the half-court/semi-transition/transition for this team man.
I used to be a denier but Halliburton is simply a winning player, he doesn’t have the gaudy PRA of other “stars” but he’s legit the system in Indy. There’s a reason the impact stats love him (8th LEBRON, 24th DARKO, 11th eRAPTOR) despite mid on/offs and PRA.

@Chp_Spinna He doesn’t need to be my brother in Christ. I hate when y’all get uber literal with everything, like a guy can be all-defensive level or produce at an all-defensive level for his role/position and not make the team or be top [insert arbitrary number] ITL.

9 point drop in volume and 8% drop in efficiency juxtaposing his production from top 10 teams vs bottom 10 teams #hmmm.
This shouldn’t come as a shock. Jokic against Top 10 record:. 25.1 PPG.12.2 REB.9.1 AST.59 TS% .74 FT% .4.0 TOV.

Ngl it is pure insanity to have a player *average* 4 blocks per 75 all the while giving you an efficient 30-12-5 man lmao.
Hakeem Olajuwon’s adjusted averages through the 1993-95 postseasons (per 75):. ▫️30.2 points.▫️11.6 rebounds.▫️4.5 assists.▫️1.6 steals.▫️3.8 blocks.▫️56.4 TS% (+3.3 opponent-adjusted rTS%).▫️Engined a +5.4 rORtg playoff offense against -1.9 rDRtg defenses. Top _ peak in history?

I do think people need to wake up, sip on some coffee or whatever, and realize that we’re watching the most transcendent team defense since the NBA/ABA merger in ‘77.
The 2025 Thunder have a… *checks notes*… -9.8 rDRtg through ≈40 games. The only team to have ever produced results like that was the 1964 Boston Celtics, anchored by the most single impactful defender to have ever lived in the history of basketball. What a damn team man.

Like being a Lakers fan is just nonstop blessings every 10 years or so man. You just get blessed transcendent talent after talent after talent.
@Sageof6turtles 50s- mikan.60s- west.70s- wilt, kareem.80s- magic, kareem.90s- shaq.00s- shaq, kobe.10s- kobe, lebron.20s- lebron, ad, luka. they got a top 3 talent of every decade to play for them every decade. you cannot convince me this isnt foul play or satanic involvement.

@georgemikan They were literally going to link up no matter what, Wade and Bron that is, they’ve deadass admitted that they were going to go to New York instead of Miami but opted to go with the latter instead of the former. Riley wasn’t a factor in acquiring Bron, it was Bron wanting to-.
