Excuse the wiggly line. I didn't mark it that way. The mower does that. Anyway, Mourneview Park ready for another 2 months of no football...

Norse Mythology on BBC sounds and left him to it. Absolutely loved it! Was full of chat about it today which isn't like him. Tonight I'll try Lady Gregory's Gods and fighting men
#mythology
Every time I cut Mourneview the grass just gets thrown into a skip. But with the amount of goodness that's put into the pitch I've decided to try and recycle and reuse by composting. Not only is it good for the environment but it will save Glenavon money and help the pitch.
Why do people insist on walking on football pitches? I don't even walk on it unless I'm working on it! Please have some respect and walk around the pitch as you never know what you have on your shoes. Off with covid for a week and come back to this to make me even more sick
MISSING CORNER FLAG. Last seen leaving Mourneview Park between 5 and 5:10pm on Saturday. It is White, Approximately 5ft tall and has a blue flag, with distinctive Glenavon badge, at the top. If anyone has any information please get in contact. Its disappearance has left a hole.
For those complaining...ground temperature is -0.7. The sun has been up, hit half the pitch and now going down. The air temperature has not risen above 2° and will be 0° by 5pm. -1° by 7pm. 40% of pitch is frozen and unplayable. By kick off it'll be worse

Was bit worried when I looked outside and seen the snow but Lurgan is clear. Mourneview Park is fine. A bit wet but playable. We are good to go (unless some drastic change in weather) for Bet McLean League semi final Mid Ulster Derby!

Come on Glenavon!
N.I fans not well received? Where is Windsor Park? Instead of expecting trouble go and prove we have the best fans in the world. Show that everyone is welcome. Stop making this about religion and politics. Move forward Get it built, get the euros and release the Sub Stadia funds!
Again?! It's happened again! So I'll say this AGAIN.
Please! Have a little respect and DO NOT walk on the pitch.
There is no reason anyone needs to step foot on the pitch. You have no idea what is on your feet. Or if I've sprayed anything. So do not step on the grass.
Thank you
So that's Irish League done for the season. Final game against Rivals
@Portadownfc
. Hope they bounce straight back. Not the same without Mid Ulster Derby.
Couple more games to be played on pitch before it closes on 15th.
Thank you for all comments and support

So football season of March-November would give us better pitches says the man who is turning the Oval Artificial.
Growing season is end of March until October/November if you're lucky. So when am I repairing the pitch to get these better pitches?
Mick McDermott is the manager of the month! 🏆
The
@Glentoran
boss has been speaking about summer football, moving the Irish League out of Jurassic Park and why anyone mentioning summer holidays should be 'barred from the room'.
It might be very very wet and extremely windy, which will be fun for me marking the lines, but the pitch is fine so grab your coats and welly boots and get ready for

My wife went to the Devenish last night. Said it was just quiet drinks with her mates. What happened? Said it was just people dancing. Did something else happen?
1/There has been a lot of criticism this season for grass pitches in the Irish League. I see this as a good thing despite the negative comments on social media. It means that people are finally seeing pitches as a vital piece of a successful club. For too long pitches have...
IFA do not care for domestic football apart from their own cup. Over 1000 supporters in for the cup final at Mourneview without any difficulty. Nifl need to stand up or else they are not fit for purpose
IRISH LEAGUE UPDATE: Ahead of the new Irish Premiership season there's growing concern amongst fans that there will be limits on the crowds justifiably making the point that huge numbers have attended other events lately. This needs sorted... The supporters deserve that.
I'm not making excuses but...the wind, the pitch was slow and bumpy. The wind didn't affect the game unless you kicked the ball high in the air. Oh wait. And the pitch wasn't slow or bumpy. Well a little bumpy. But it didn't stop the pace of Linfield.

Huge commiserations to
@ColeraineFC
They gave their all and were excellent the whole game. Wonder would things have been different with a full team.
At least now the pitch can get more than 4 weeks to regrow. If only it would rain!!
Anyway after 14hrs on my feet I'm off to bed.
Glad that is over. Two weeks of worry and stress trying to grow grass in torrential rain and flooding. Had to dig the black layer out of the goalmouths and start again. Now on to Monday for game 2 of 8 this month. Big thanks to
@isturf_kyle
for help and advice and supplies.
I love when there is atmosphere created by a singing support at football games but would rather hear songs supporting the club not about building gallows or a battle that happened hundred of years ago.

Casement Park, along with Windsor Park and Ravenhill, were promised redeveloent over 10 years ago. Windsor and Ravenhill got theirs but Casement was delayed for various reasons. Time for Casement to get their redevelopment and host the Euros for the betterment of this country
@empireofthekop
Wow! Get him out now before this toxic behaviour spreads to the rest of the team! Last thing we need is Coutinho to become unhappy and leave...
Glenn Ferguson without a doubt. Best player I've seen in the Irish League. Should have had more caps for Northern Ireland. He Could do everything. His goal record was incredible but would love to know his assists.
@NIStats
?
Suppose I should go home after someone turned the lights off!
But that was a proper Irish league match! Credit to both
@Glentoran
and, especially,
@Glenavon_FC
. Neither team deserved to lose. Good luck Glentoran in the next round.
Now I'm going home to cry over my penalty spot
I'll say it first so nobody else needs to...Welcome to Tyrella Beach. Hope you brought your bucket and spade?
A sandy Mourneview Park tonight for

@DgnSwifts

Mid season maintenance has been completed but no rain to wash the sand in.

Congratulations
@larnefc
. You can talk about money and fulltime but Larne, with people like
@kennybpb
and
@ClementsGareth
, have patiently built something special and long lasting. Didn't throw money and hope, they built and had faith in the manager and project. Enjoy the success
I've said it before but...
MOURNEVIEW PARK NEEDS A SPRINKLER SYSTEM!
Pitch was rock Hard, bone dry and bumpy as hell tonight.
Can not wait for this season to end and get to work on it next week!
Two hours to go!

Nothing like a Mid Ulster Derby between these two Sleeping giants. Wear your colours. Sing till your throat is sore. Support your team. Come on Glenavon!

Calm before the storm.
Rain is in the air. And it will be heavy for a prolonged period. But sure it wouldn't be matchday over Easter without some weather warning
Welcome to, as someone in Crusaders called it, The "Dump" where you can't get a good place to watch the match.
Mourneview Park is Ready(ish) for Irish Cup Semi Final between

It's been very wet so hopefully it'll hold out!

How dangerous is this from Joe Crowe? Incredible considering what happened to Bobby Burns at Seaview not that long ago. A senior player acting so Reckless against a young player and gets on like he's done nothing wrong.
Under two hours until Kick off in the Sold out Mid Ulster Derby between
@Glenavon_FC
and
@Portadownfc
. First one in 7 years at Mourneview Park (and my 1st on Boxing day) so hopefully a good one And it stays dry although I'd doesn't look like it.

Deleted that tweet as it wasn't a fair reflection on the pitch. A lot of work ahead to get it back in some sort of order. Keepers will have some fun over the next few weeks in the goalmouths but all things considering the pitch did OK tonight. Weather was shocking!
Peter Campbell and a goal post have a fight… there’s only going to be one winner. 🥊 🥅
All the same, well done to Peter for committing to the goal, and good luck getting up in the morning. Ouch😖
Disappointed with Larne players reactions tonight. No need to surround the referee, pushing and shoving, trying to influence him. Just get on with it! Play the game.
And the referee sending off BJ is a shocking decision. Ruined the game and costing Billy Joe a cup final.
Was asked if I knew where the marble plaque commemorating the opening of the Crescent Stand by Terry Venables was. I had found it a few years ago when clearing out basically dumping grounds under the stand. I've asked a few times for it to be found a new place but it's still here
Not long to go for the Bet McClean League Cup Semi Final between
@Glenavon_FC
and
@Portadownfc
. Pitch is fine. Covers are frozen on the Geddis side and up the middle but underneath is soft but will know better in 24-30 hours.
There are only three people I trust to work on MVP But on Sunday morning we lost one. Keith Morrison was always dedicated and hard working. He always had time for a chat and a laugh. He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. Thinking of his extended family. Rest easy Keith
Screwfix actually. But they don't cover a whole football pitch. And after weeks with no rain, to save the grass from burning, you use whatever you can. Unfortunately our council don't pay for our pitch or provide us with an irrigation system to water at a touch of a button 🙄
The fans are often referred to as the 'twelfth man' on the pitch. This was not only the case for our fans yesterday afternoon, but they were also the tenth and eleventh man in the second half.
Thank you for your support, it was absolutely incredible👏🏼💙🤍

Thanks to Glentoran fans who have texted, tweeted or talked about me and my jokey tweets during the week. Happy that you waited the rest of the week with me on your minds. So cute 😂. Well done for beating a Part time team with half a squad missing. Enjoy your week without me 😂

players have went home with any sand can I have it back please? You don't find that just lying at the bottom of the Lough.
Calling all Glenavon fans. Over the next few weeks I'll be asking for help. I want every corner of Mourneview Park looking perfect for the start of the season. If anyone can spare a couple of hours to power wash, clean, paint, weed or anything else please let yourself be known...
It's always them and us in this country. Green and orange. There'll never be a time when people can agree when there are 2 communities, 2 sides, 1 massive divide.
"Not one of us can rest, be happy, be at home, be at peace with ourselves, until we end hatred and division."

All I can smell is Barbecues while I move sprinklers and try to stop the pitch from burning more! Shove your ideas for summer football where the sun don't shine!
Really looking forward to this. It'll be tough going on the Tuesday (my birthday by the way) but have always loved working on Irish Cup Final day. Hopefully the Ground and pitch will be the best I can get it.
It's a cold, windy night at Mourneview Park. Was hoping for a little bit more rain to soften the pitch up but, by the looks of the clouds, it may still come.
