SIMON BIRMINGHAM: Labor’s ideological opposition to nuclear power puts Australia out of step with the rest of the world.

Don Farrell just told @AuSenate the Albanese Government would consider creating more senators & MPs after the next election. Rather than hiding their plans, Labor should be upfront with Australians before they vote about whether Labor will increase the size of the parliament.

Few get to control the timing of their departure themselves & to go out when people would like them to go on. Congrats David for leaving on your own terms. May the next stages of life bring you great happiness. Just don’t turn your tough interviews tactics onto family & friends!

David has become one of the most informed broadcasters in our state, providing a depth to state political coverage that few others come close to. He’s pursued issues, not just personalities, & generally shown a balance by holding all his political guests to account.

Congrats to ABC South Australia’s David Bevan on a brilliant & impactful media career. I first met the young state political reporter as an even younger staffer nearly 30 years ago. Since then I’ve been on the receiving end of many a tough question from David. Tough but fair.
