I was happy to join my colleagues, @RepCockley @RepBrewer and @iamDontavius during a town hall this week, to speak out about the dangers of gun violence and how we can work on preventing these acts of violence from occurring.

Today, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio and House Democratic Leader Allison Russo issued statements concerning the politically motivated attack on two Minnesota state lawmakers.

House Bill 96 fails to address the needs of hardworking, everyday Ohioans. The Republican supermajorities in the legislature decimated many of the bipartisan provisions proposed by the governor that would have invested in our children and working families.

State support of higher education in Ohio has continued to fall year after year since we were in the top five under former Governor Dick Celeste. We are now in the bottom ten percent of state support for higher education

Ohio’s graduating seniors won’t be staying in Ohio if SB 1 is passed and we lose all the best professors and students to other states

We should NEVER give taxpayer money to billionaires to build stadiums so they can make more money for themselves!

So we want to encourage free thinking on college campuses?? We mandate right wing think tanks on campus that no students want and we pass SB 1 which will completely gut higher education in Ohio! This is completely OPPOSITE of encouraging free thinking!

I appreciate giving middle class families $1000 child tax credit but we should give more money to this and NOT give tax breaks for the wealthy

What will help children more?? Banning their cell phones or actually fully funding K-12 public education and paying our public school teachers what they deserve??

Maybe Ohio should provide free breakfast and lunch to students who need it. Maybe one of the reasons children can’t succeed is because they don’t eat regular meals because their families can’t afford it.

So we should put our senior citizens back to work?? How about we do something to freeze their property taxes so they can live out their lives in their homes and not be forced out because of out of control property taxes

If all children are to reach their full potential, maybe we should fully fund public K-12 education and not give a billion taxpayer dollars for vouchers or spend taxpayer money to build private schools

Maybe we should invest more money in our K-12 public schools or in our public higher education universities than worrying about how many words have been eliminated from the administrative code
