This has been scientifically validated by various studies to be by far the fastest and most cost-efficient in addressing poverty, and will have a much more impactful effect on the security of nutritional food for families which is a major driver of poverty in Namibia.

If they are serious about ending poverty, a universal/unconditional BIG of N$500/person/month for all Namibians aged 0-59, represents a better strategy to do it.

Conditional/targeted classic welfare programmes, such as the Harambee Cash Grant, have been proven to be more expensive, wasteful and ineffective at ending poverty.

Poverty levels in Namibia have become a humanitarian crises. More than half of the Namibian population suffers from hunger, with 58% food insecure, according to the Food and Agriculture Organisation's (FAO).

They went ahead to base the Harambee Cash Grant on the failed feeding scheme (as per the Auditor General’s 2023 report), which is discriminatory towards many Namibians and has no impact on poverty and inequality reduction.
