Notably, the amount offered in the German-Namibian bilateral agreement for the compensation fund (1.1 bn Euro over 30 years) roughly amounts to the money Germany put on record as development aid for Namibia the last 30 years. So much about true remorse.

Shame on you, who shamelessly betray the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections. While claiming to represent democracies, you are spineless and an embarrassment to all citizens who believe in free political choices. Is this the "democracy" you personify?
Angelina Immanuel's statement is showing her determination - a strong and committed young woman, who is at the forefront of bringing about a political and cultural turning point in Namibia, hopefully to the benefit of all people. I take my hat off. These are exciting times.
Shacks existed when Geingob became Prime Minister in 1990 and informal settlements grew ever since then. - It took him quite a long time, including close to four years as president, to feel "offended" by their existence...

What a disgrace! Arresting independent minded young Namibians on Independence Day for peacefully protesting is a slap in the face of the meaning of Independence and the democratic civil rights we were fighting for. Shame on you, who misunderstand freedom as that of those in power
MP arrested... Member of parliament Inna Hemgari was arrested after she, Julietta Amushelelo, the wife of Michael Amushelelo, along with fellow MP Hidipo Hamata, arrived at the Otjomuise police station where Michael and fellow activist, Dimbulukweni Nujoma, are being held.
It seems the downplaying game has started. In simple terms, Laz: if ministers change laws bordering to a violation of the Constitution to pave the way for a grand scale self-enrichment and Cabinet waves these through, it is a political matter one does not need to 'politicise'...

What I found most disturbing and disappointing in the SONA debate was that despite the President praising the gender balance in his government the whole debate had one female speaker only and nobody raised any gender-related matters of substance.

Why do you fall short of any similar gesture of recognition. remembrance and remorse towards the victims of the German genocide committed between 1904 and 1908 in the very country hosting this embassy?

I think you should retract such an intimidation with apologies. it borders to a violation of constitutionally enshrined civil rights to vote in democratic elections for the party of your individual choice and preference. Are you becoming an autocrat?

As far as it seems from the outside looking in, the "anarchy and lawlessness" witnessed was caused by the heavy hand of the police, not by those who peacefully demonstrated. The rule of law should not be misunderstood as the law of the rulers.
He says the protests were unprocedural and that “society needs not and should not resort to anarchy and lawlessness in a country where the rule of law reigns supreme.”

Let me fix it: Following our established standard practices, Emmerson Mnangagwa was allocated a number of votes translating into 52.7%. We were willing to share with Chamisa 44% of the votes and hope this settles the matter once and for all. Our courts know how to rule. Amen.
His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa has won the vote with 2 350 711votes, consisting 52.7% of the vote. Chamisa scored 1 906 734, which is 44% of the vote
Horrible news ringing alarm bells: When soldiers deployed to maintain "law and order" kill innocent civilians, Namibia cannot any longer be considered a peaceful country but moves closer to police state terror. Is this the freedom and justice we were fighting for?!

Not that it is of any comfort, but just a confirmation: lecturing/correcting others from claimed moral commanding heights is a German virtue (not by accident the term "Besserwisser" is used in other languages too), and quite some German professors are very good in practicing it.
I am not aware of any other country, in which the Presidency would publish a 3-page media release in response to a reader's letter in the local media to dismiss the opinion of an individual.
Absolutely amazing to see how a courageous young woman campaigning as independent candidate and the support she received among the local electorate has changed the political landscape of Namibia dramatically. The signs are on the wall, the new generation has spoken!

I humbly offer a different reading: the mere fact that Geingob was re-elected by at least one third less votes shows the eroding credibility and lack of trust. It's a well deserved defeat, not a victory. But then, I do not aim for any political office in a morally corrupt party.
Your re-election as the President of the Republic of Namibia and Swapo Party as the Governing party is a sign that the Namibian people at large appreciates your leadership. I want to hereby convey my warmest congratulations 🍾 to a well deserved victory.

Let's assume they have covered all costs for their children (meaning: travel, accommodation, food and everything else during such a stay): why are children part of an official state business trip to Dubai? Did they travel on their own, making own arrangements - or who did?
President Hage Geingob and first lady Monica Geingos have defended taking their children along on official state business to Dubai, saying they have paid for their expenses.
It is very disturbing that the Ukraine with its abstention has sacrificed any claims for a moral high ground and forfeited any criticism of UN member states who abstain when a vote is taken on its case. Geopolitics and human rights for all seem incompatible.
