I have been doing stargazing for the last 8 years and this is one of the brightest meteor I have seen in my life. All this happened 15 kms away from city centre (Port Blair)... tells you how less light polluted Andamans is.

The Geminid meteor shower peaks on 15th Dec in the early morning. Wherever you are, go to the terrace at about 2 a.m. & look at the night sky. The moon interference is very low this year, you will be able to spot plenty of meteors.

I get a lot of dms about book suggestions relating to Stargazing, Big Bang and all. Here are my reccos, which are easy to read for laymen. These books don't have any maths involved and will make you interested in the subject.

Most of the excellent locations for astrophotography in Tamil Nadu are closed to the public. I speak from my experience of photographing the night sky in Tamil Nadu for the last 8 years..

This won't be a one time event. We will do it each & every month. I will move my Dobsonian telescope to Erode permanently. The idea is to make people look at the nightsky, create awareness and have a vibrant astronomy community in Erode.
