Using several in vitro, in vivo, in silico and ex vivo approaches, we show that TF directly binds to and interacts with IFNAR1 owing to its homology with IFNAR2 (a known ligand of IFNAR1).

While we show this pathway predominantly in kidney, we believe it can be translated to other organs and diseases as well.

Using a podocye specific TF deletion mice, we show that loss of TF or its interaction with IFNAR1 promotes IFN response genes and increased TF activity. This in turn regulates the immune homeostasis within kidney and promotes macrophage infiltration.
