I am beyond excited to announce the Schomer Lab will be launching in January 2023 at the stunningly beautiful @UArizona @UAZPlantSciences! My lab will study the chemical ecology of the rhizosphere (the root-soil interface) & the role of chemosensing in plant-microbe interactions.

Our group will use #Ralstonia plant pathogens as a model to investigate the role chemotactic behavior plays in niche discovery. In host range. In the formation, structure, and maintenance of rhizosphere communities.

Our team will decipher the chemical language of the rhizosphere. Genomes of soil microbes encode up to dozens of chemoreceptors that interpret and respond to chemical variation in the environment. We’ll use functional genomics tools decode this chemical ecology.

You hear US politicians disgracing themselves on TV shouting critical race theory (CRT) is a pox on all our houses, they're gonna ban it, slap it, flip it, rub it down, but have absolutely no clue what it is? Are you wondering what even is this CRT? Well, come learn. 🧵🧵 1/13

Pls retweet! Looking to 3D print custom plasticware for plant-bacterial interactions. Any recommendations from Science Twitter abt best way to go abt 3D printing, or how to do it economically? Especially @UCDavis scientists abt where to get my design printed. @TLowepower

The #BlackintheIvory thread is so incredibly validating. It's constant gaslighting when you're Black in academia. You're around a lot people reading, citing, and producing "radical" philosophies but not living up to them in practice.

#BlackintheIvory Being told by a senior white faculty person that my research was too “niché” + “a theoretical” when I shared my desire to study Black women’s communication 🙄
