With even less plates being issued, there is of course far less competition and therefore no interest in providing either a better service or cheaper rates to entice customers. It’s simple supply & demand and it’s appalling that the island is held hostage by 270 individuals.

Yet again, proof that @GovJersey has no interest in fixing a broken service used by the public. The important fact in the article isn’t the rise in max fare (although no driver/company ever charges less than the max) - it’s that there are 40 less plates since 2020!!

A fantastic move by Guernsey. When will Jersey actually realise that the only way to modernise and regulate the taxi industry is to force all drivers to sign up.
