#LoaferDWR [update] One way we maximize the effectiveness of a broadcast burn is by creating piles of dead brush and timber within the burn area. By collecting the fuel into a pile, we get better consumption of the fuels than if they were just laying loose on the ground.

With the favorable weather forecast over the next few days, CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire is planning several control burns throughout the county. Monday in Forest Ranch, Tuesday-Wednesday at Loafer Creek at Lake Oroville, and Thursday in Magalia. See the news releases for details.

CAL FIRE/Butte County, in conjunction with all other Northern Region Units, is lifting the burn ban on Monday, October 13th at 8 am. Reminder: A valid burn permit is required. See the News Release for more information about burning safely and how to acquire a burn permit.

The Phoenix VMP Control Burn has been postponed. Crews will be in the area burning brush piles, but the planned broadcast burning of 433 acres will not take place due to weather and fuel conditions.

See News Release for a 19 acre prescribed burn operation at Loafer Creek Recreation Area starting tomorrow morning. If all burn plan conditions are met, crews will begin firing at 9:30 A.M. Smoke will be visible in the Kelly Ridge and East Oroville areas throughout the day.
