The Plumas National Forest will be conducting a series of prescribed burns in the Sawmill Peak area near Concow, starting with 106 acres of piles and underburning on Tuesday, Dec 9. Smoke may be visible from a wide area around Sawmill Peak including Concow, Paradise, and Magalia

#LoaferDWR [update] One way we maximize the effectiveness of a broadcast burn is by creating piles of dead brush and timber within the burn area. By collecting the fuel into a pile, we get better consumption of the fuels than if they were just laying loose on the ground.

See News Release for a 19 acre prescribed burn operation at Loafer Creek Recreation Area starting tomorrow morning. If all burn plan conditions are met, crews will begin firing at 9:30 A.M. Smoke will be visible in the Kelly Ridge and East Oroville areas throughout the day.
