A woman did her regular aerobics class out in open without realizing that a coup was taking place in #Myanmar. A Military convoy reaching the parliament can be seen behind the woman as she performs aerobics. Incredible!

When I was still a neuroscience student but starting to be interested in economics, a Harvard econ prof stood me up for a meeting. I sent him a polite email asking him to please tell me earlier next time. Some of my econ friends were shocked I did this. Let’s make it normal.
Econ should be as inclusive as possible. Any student should be comfortable talking to any person with any power, and any student should feel like they would be welcome and appreciated in the community of economists. To me, this is the litmus test.

1/N My very first thread! ... I’d like to use it to explain some new work. Let’s start with a thought experiment: Say all US household debt was refinanced to a 1% lower rate. Would it have an impact on the economy?

I gave a talk recently to the first-year PhD students, reflecting on my grad school experience. Basically what would I want to go back and tell myself? Posting the slides here, in case they're at all helpful to others: https://t.co/vLnc6jXM33

Each feed only shows tweets from one list. I have 5 lists -- News and politics World, News and politics Brazil, EconTwitter, EconTwitter Brazil, Local news from DC and Fun. You can also subscribe to lists created by other people. Credits: Highly recommend it!

I recently found something that makes my experience on Twitter a lot better! It's called TweetDeck -- you can categorize the profiles into lists ( https://t.co/Jxdy1EV5Nq is very useful to do it fast) and display multiple feeds one next to the other at

Depending on how many people you follow on Twitter and how frequently you access it during the day, the Twitter feed can be overwhelming. Sometimes I just want to read stuff related to politics in Brazil, but instead get tons of stuff on, let's say, world news or #EconTwitter.
