I posted on LinkedIn this morning about still being open to a salaried role in a newsroom someplace. At the risk of being immodest, I think I’ve earned my stripes after almost a decade and think you should hire me to report on disability in tech. https://t.co/BFHsqdvJhK

It's time yet again for another installment of Hire Steven. I'm here, hat in hand, telling anyone who'll listen that I'm still open to a salaried position in a newsroom somewhere. This coming May...

This ought to be something to cheer, but it’s so bizarrely bad with VoiceOver. iOS components come baked with so much accessibility support out of the box – it takes *effort* to make something this opaque. Why? To save some money? The V in MVP should include “usable by everyone.”

7.26 billion people own mobile phones, but the majority use them for one purpose: consumption. As of today, every single smartphone can now be used for something more: software creation. Introducing the Replit mobile app on Android and iOS. Code anything, anywhere.

One of the reasons I love working in #a11y is that it's SO deeply multifaceted. #Accessibility is about: 🎨 Design 👩🏻‍💻 Engineering 💁🏽 UX 🎁 Product …and most importantly… 👯 People I may not be good at all these things, but the chance to think about them all daily is a gift!

Thinking that accessibility is simply an engineering problem to be solved is very common. It's also a massive part of the problem.

I wrote a blog post about the new “primary associated types” feature in Swift 5.7. Good feature! https://t.co/NmRS9s2rK7

We’re looking for an experienced iOS developer to join my team at @PSPDFKit. Nice place to work. Fully remote by design. Unusual challenges making an SDK. Willingness to use both Swift and Objective-C is necessary.

had the honor of chatting with Bay Area YouTube legend Chef John from @foodwishes! a favorite quote: “Why do we need 4K?” he said. “So you watch my video in 4K — then what happens? You still make the soup, right?” https://t.co/F21RAMQg9U

People are excited for spooky season, but October is also Nat’l Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Contrary to what society says, disabled people contribute much to the economy. Disability deserves more representation in the workplace—especially in newsrooms!

I remember folks ragging on this talk when I delivered it, saying it was too easy and they knew it already. It’s helped over 10,000 people since, and is the most watched @dotSwift talk from any year. If you have a talk you think would be great, no matter how “easy”, go for it! 🚀

GitHub seems to have made a change where it messes with my browser history. Going back from a pull request's "Files changed" doesn't go back to the conversation, but to another pull request entirely... forgetting I checked my notifications in the meantime? Ugh :-(
