Keeping in view recent flash floods in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, some thoughts on the likely impact of climate exchange on violent extremism. Acting as a threat multiplier, climate exchange can exacerbate pre-existing drivers and condition of radicalisation in Pak. 1/2.

Considering the US interest in Balochistan’s rare-earth minerals, it was expected. It’ll not ve a major impact on insurgency beyond making it difficult for BLA to receive overseas funds. However, decentralised crypto currencies & e-wallets could help it navigate these challenges.

The US designation of BLA and the Majeed Brigade as a foreign terrorist organisation is an important development. It points toward growing alignment of US-Pak interests in fighting terrorism. It also opens a potential door for Chian-US cooperation on CT through Pak as well. 1/2

TRF’s use of “IIOJK” moniker to describe Indian-admin Kashmir, while denouncing the IS designation as a terrorist group, is very suggestive. “IIOJK” is used by Pakistani officialdom. Again, the more you go through TRF’s propaganda, the harder it gets to deny its Pakistani roots.

Some thoughts on potential security implications of ISKP’s declaration of war against BLA in Balochistan, such as temporary spike in violence, counterterrorism advantages for Pakistani forces and inter-group clashes creating openings for infiltrations.

Ostensibly, Bangladeshis killed in Pak & arrested in Dhaka belong to AQIS, not TTP. However, TTP’s name helps to a) portray it as a global threat, & b) avoid international attention which AQIS-links wl generate. The recent arrests of 33 could also be a cover for AQIS links.3/3.
