It's remarkable that Christ, the high priest after the order of Melchizedek, humbled himself in this way. Christ, the high priest offering himself for the life of the world, subjected himself to the humiliation of being offered up by an unrighteous man (Heb 2:17).

It is right that one man should die to save his people. The High Priest was thinking of his people being spared from the Romans and Christ was thinking of all people being spared from Death. It is true that a specific group of jews offered up a great sacrifice despite themselves
