the entire album Rivers either blames others or doesn’t even attempt to fix his own problems. there’s so much weight to the final song being an apology. Pinkerton doesn’t work without Butterfly

yeah I know the entire point of an album closer is to close the album well but the fact that Butterfly makes Pinkerton go from a pretty aimless and hateful experience to one of the greatest albums I could name is insane
