Fourteen year old John Spencer (left) pictured during the summer of 1950. As well as being a keen cricketer John had just been introduced to playing snooker on a full size table by his father, within a year he had made his first century break.

Two of snooker's absent friends who will be looking down and feeling proud today 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. Aged fifty Mark Williams could make history in this year's final, I wish him all the best but whatever the outcome over the next two days he has without doubt been the player of the tournament.

🎙️"𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦". Jimmy White clearing to take a 14-8 lead over Hendry in the 1992 final. No championship passes me by without thinking of that final and how Jimmy was finally going to win it. Such a shame that he never did.
