बंटा banṭā
Delhi's popular summer drink banṭā (lime soda) is named after the glass marble in the Codd-Neck Bottle. The word banṭā in Punjabi & Hindi is related to Sanskrit vaṭaka वटक (ball). In 1872, British engineer Hiram Codd designed this unique bottle with a marble.1/2

बंटा banṭā also has the meaning of a round pot both in Hindi and Punjabi. The word is frequently used in Khadiboli folk poetry. This sense of banṭā has given us the idiom banṭāḍhār honā बंटाढार होना (to be completely ruined). Imagine if a pot of water/milk overturns. 2/2

बंटा पीतल के बड़े बर्तन को कहा जाता है। उसके ढल जाने, लुढ़क जाने से उसमें रखी हुई वस्तु, पेयपदार्थ आदि बिखर जाएँगे। इसलिए बंटाढार होने में अधिक और संभवतः अपूरणीय हानि की संभावना है।

पंजाब में कंचे को बंटा कहा जाता है। वहां बच्चे बंटे खेलते हैं। इस बोतल में भी कंचा ही होता है। बंटे वाली बोतल को ये नाम शायद पंजाबी से ही मिला है।

बंटा शब्द कंचे के लिए पंजाबी से ही आया है, हिन्दी में बंटा शब्द अपने पुराने अर्थ के साथ पहले से मौजूद था। पंजाबी में भी बटलोई वाला पुराना अर्थ मौजूद है।

Banta was a common name in UP n some part of North India specially in Delhi Chandini Chowk in early 60s and 70s.

Also used as weapon in riots. You shake and throw a bottle toward the opponents. When it breaks the marble shoots like a bullet. Appropriately called goli soda too.
