Echoing @MarcRuby recommendation to buy @dumav fantastic new book exploring how a dash of incompetence mixed with outright fraud by executives caused one of the world’s most storied financial institutions to eventually self-destruct, which I reviewed for @BooksinFive below! 1/5

Also, saw that Ruben over the weekend was chatting shit about how Bruno is perceived in Portugal and how surprised he is that he's a responsible player in reality. Do any of the lads have any insight into how the Portugese fans see him? Is he a Ronaldo or a Quaresma? #TOTDlive

Does Andy go to mundane places on purpose just so when he breaks big stories he can be like "oh I was at Aldi in Slough buying cabbages" and come across as a normal human? What's the most mundane place he's been, against the highest profile person/story he was covering? #TOTDlive

Since Mike Lynch was acquitted in May, I’ve been obsessed with his incredible life. I’m so excited to publish his biography! @kprescott has been covering him for years, and I can’t imagine anyone better to write what will surely be the biggest British business narrative of 2025.

One of the proudest moments of my career so far! I’m deeply honoured to be publishing @byPlestia’s incredibly moving and important diary memoirs. I’ve just received the manuscript and it’s every bit as powerful, charming and heart-wrenching as you’d expect.

And finally... 1. TO SLEEP IN A SEA OF STARS by @paolini I’ve never read a fiction book that's so real it almost seems prophetic. A remarkable story, it made me feel both insignificant + essential in equal measures – and isn’t that what the feeling of being alive is? (6/7)

2. DISORIENTATION by @elainehsiehchou The protagonist's whole personality is determined by others' reactions to her, even though she’s from the same place as them – she just looks different. It made me question so much about who I am as a person, and it won't leave me. (5/7)

3. KING KONG THEORY by Virginie Despentes Forced me to reconsider feminism as a deeply economic construct. The descriptions of men as fodder for war, and women as production lines to protect future warfare, completely blew me away. I read this book more than 15 times. (4/7)

4. SEX CULT NUN by Faith Jones More than a memoir about leaving a cult, this a story about home, family, and what happens when your sense of self is torn down and you're forced to rebuild it alone. It made me reappreciate everybody I love in my life - as well as myself. (3/7)

5. THE FUND by @realrobcopeland If you've ever felt that big CEOs hold an unattainable genius, this book exposes them for exactly who they are: ordinary humans, with all their toxicity and hubris, who work hard, get lucky, and then act like messiahs. (2/7)

You might remember Jermaine Pennant as a randy midfielder with a bad boy rep. But that's just the start: his ludicrous life is worthy of a soap opera. From threesomes with Ashley Cole to exploding cannabis farms, this is the story of a winger gone wild...
