I am so happy to see NASA HQ made funding available to CXC to fund staff salaries for an extra year. Such funding allowed them to accept some of this year's proposals including my joint proposal with Chandra and GMOS. Chandra is very telescope for astronomy, so let's #SaveChandra

25 years ago today, a pyrotechnic charge equivalent to an M-80 firecracker exploded, sending a chisel through a bolt and a powerful spring swung open the 120-pound 9-foot diameter door protecting Chandra's delicate mirrors. Cosmic X-rays shined on the mirrors for the first time!
