big fan of food for thought! who cares if you agree or disagree! it’s fun to think about things from new perspectives! the mind deserves feeding!
The big Dunk/Lyonel scene in the finale is one of my favorite scenes of the season and one of the reasons is how uncomfortable it is. Lyonel makes several points about Baelor that I don’t necessarily agree with, but boy are they food for thought.

I’d say it was a job well done. The scene itself conveyed the chaotic energy of a real melee like this extremely well and the fog let viewers dial in on the struggle at the heart of it all. This is what I mean when I say limitations breed creativity.
‘A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS’ showrunner says they “embellished” the fog to overcome budget limitations in the fight scene “We have about a quarter for every dollar for a Westeros minute of previous shows. So we had to be careful how we hid things” (via: Polygon)

ser duncan was exhausted and battered and bleeding and yet he still pushed himself off that wall to kneel for baelor and call himself his man and then said man died in his fucking arms

it’s actually impossible to have a conversation on here about anything semi-interesting because people are obsessed with engaging in the worst faith possible and start behaving like you kicked their grandmother for having an opinion

i wonder what they would have changed if akotsk had a higher budget. the showrunners have been frank about the financial constraints but it really wasn’t noticeable to me until episode 5, where i imagine part of the reason why they couldn’t show more of the fighting was budget

I think the point is that Ser Duncan the Tall is one of the greatest knights to have ever lived because he is one of the rare knights that actually embodies what knighthood stands for. His immense size is part of his legacy but his combat skills need not factor into it.

was a missed opportunity to not show daeron getting bonked on the head, falling over and napping for the rest of the trial

i think one obvious thread tying the flashback to the fight was the intentional choice for the gold cloaks to be terrorizing dunk when he was a boy versus a prince terrorizing dunk now… i thought the class / abuse of power commentary was effective idk 🧍🏽♀️
