Grateful to Shellfish Association of Great Britain and @Joe_Redfern for the invite to talk at their annual meeting. As someone who normally dresses like an abject scuff, the black tie dinner was way out of my comfort zone, but a random woman on the street said I looked dashing 😁

Best read with a mug of steaming hot coffee. Sets out many of the deep rooted issues/failings of the UK higher education sector.

Imagine you’re an undergraduate first year student that chose the university you’ve enrolled at on the basis of a set of pathways characterised by a large range of optional modules.

We simply can't allow the destruction wrought upon our northeast seas & the folks who depend upon it to be forgotten. The ongoing Post Office scandal is a case in point, where skint little people are left to fight those with very deep pockets (and an aversion to the truth).

Teesworks: What the Inquiry won't be talking about. In December we reported that Teesworks may be responsible for ecocide in Tees Bay and beyond. Now we have more evidence. So we've produced an update. It's a bit more damning than the original:.

This is not political, this is about leveraging the power of science to uncover the truth.

More lies, misdirection and cover ups. Without being prompted robot @michaelgove spurts the party line about the NE mass mortalities. It was NOT politically motivated, we DO have evidence it was linked to Teesside development and it continues to impact our coastline šŸ¦€šŸ¦žā˜ ļø

More excellent dredging up the facts by Tees Valley Monitor. The evidence base is growing that work on the Teesworks site has, and continues to cause enormous damage to the northeast marine ecosystem.

Demolition of the Dorman Long Tower and Mass Crustacean Mortality. Are they linked? .As we await the report into corruption at Teesworks, Tees Valley Monitor looks beyond dubious finances to another issue that needs independent investigation:.

Very much enjoyed my visit to speak with @UniOfYork natural sciences students about the mass die-offs. The story has mostly gone unnoticed by the younger generation - guess I should've been banging the drum on Tiktok and Insta too (shudders).

13. Certain interested parties have tried to use the Cefas report to attempt to draw a line under the pyridine argument, but it hasn’t worked, the report gives further credibility to the explanation. Bet you didn’t see that coming?.

12. The timing of the release of the Cefas report (30 mins before we presented our latest chemical contaminant data to the joint council working group on the die-offs) was certainly curious.

11. So, let’s look at the ā€œā€¦as a single chemical entityā€¦ā€. Multichemical pollution is of course the most likely situation– pyridine is but one component of coal tar – we are also very worried about naphthalene for example.

10. This is not a denial whatsoever of a role for pyridine in the die-offs, particularly given how strident the DEFRA agencies have been in trying to discredit the pyridine explanation.

9. But the real kicker is this: ā€œIt is therefore considered very unlikely that pyridine, as a single chemical entity, was the cause of the crab and lobster mortalities during autumn 2021.ā€.

8. Pyridine doesn’t need to enter the crab/lobster to be toxic – quite the opposite. The neural receptors are on the outside of the exoskeleton, so pyridine just needs to be in the water at the time (think of the toxic mists used in The Hunger Games film 2).
