For the 6,000+ #AWS service API endpoints, shows which endpoints support #IPv6 by default, and which require additional client configuration. Important when considering an IPv6-only VPC. New: Daily updates and a list of recent changes.

My own impression was that the new version's performance is "meh but bearable" and that I need to have a word with DSQL. But initial feedback makes it clear that it's horrible for non-EU users due to latency, especially when filtering services (when typing). I will take care of.

The AWS CDK telemetry collection drama has reached the "well you can block traffic to our telemetry domain name to improve the opt-out experience" stage.

When AWS announced their IPv4 tax, >90% of service endpoints did not support IPv6 at all. This number is now down to 33%. To celebrate, I gave a makeover – it's now dynamic, so it won't shove several megabytes of HTML into your face anymore. Also, to keep.

AWS is Serious™️ about the European Sovereign Cloud, and I expect that it will resolve most criticism re. data protection and foreign access. But the usual suspects complain that the whole EUSC setup still has an US parent so still is affected by the CLOUD Act. In theory. Hm.

When we say "no non-EU dependencies" we mean it. AWS is lighting up a new root Certificate Authority fully based in the EU. Private keys, secure facilities, operators, management, issuances, revocations, the metadata handling . all based only in the EU.

Reminder: If you use `psql` with `sslmode=require`, that does *not* check the server's certificate, allowing MITM attacks. You want `sslmode=verify-full` for that, especially when connecting across the public internet.

DSQL pricing: The article linked below explores DPUs a bit further – and it includes a nice shell script to easily see your used DPUs and storage cost! Much faster than waiting for Cost Explorer data to show up. Note that DPU costs shown are month-to-date.

Curious about DSQL pricing? How many rows do you think you can insert for under a dollar?.
