Wrote a little piece for @TheLancet with @drdebbieaitken & Dr AK Ismail (@OxfordDeptofEd) on ingrained dominant paradigms in med ed research. Neocolonial patterns need be introspectively confronted at all stages of the process to decolonise the field

It's 2024 and today I witnessed a female dr colleague, more senior than I, being talked down to. That same person then turned to me and was extremely nice. I am the doctor I am today because of inspirational female role models. Still so much change needed. #InternationalWomensDay

Based on some recent conversations, I felt like a thread was needed on some of the issues surrounding medical training, and how they intersect with the long term workforce plan. Buckle in for a long one 1/14 🧵

1. We are not demanding, we are asking for a fair negotiation. 2. We are asking for pay restoration, not a rise. Our pay has been cut. It has not remained unchanged. 3. I, in my 4th year, am earning what they quote an FY1 in their 1st year to be earning. Pure manipulation.
The BMA has demanded a 35% pay rise for junior doctors. Here's their current average pay rates at different levels. https://t.co/ihM6HxcS2Q

Came into the office to this today. Just thought it was such a simple but really powerful show of support from the consultants on our ward. So lucky to be part of a team with such supportive consultants!

Feeling pretty overwhelmed to have gotten a UCL EMEA for my teaching commitments over the last 3 years at the medical school. Total impostor syndrome when sharing a list with such inspirational colleagues and friends. Here's an obligatory awkward photo...

@sophielouisecc This photograph features our staff and was taken in March 2020, before the law prevented social gatherings so no rules are being broken here. Our staff worked tirelessly during the pandemic and followed all guidance. To suggest otherwise is misleading & does not represent reality
