525am: Well, that escalated quickly. Storms erupting across much of SE CA & far SW AZ. Flash Flood Warnings west of El Centro where over 2" of rain has fallen in just over the past hour. Another cluster of storms heading towards Yuma the next 1-2 hours. #cawx #azwx

In Philadelphia, SEPTA now offers college students a dirt-cheap "all-you-can-ride" transit pass --but only if their school buys one for ALL students. Swarthmore is the first to sign on. It's a model more colleges (& transit agencies) should consider. 🧵⬇️ https://t.co/gK3Yq9v8uG

New research! We developed multiple approaches to infer mobility of care and women's travel on transit using fare card data: “Can Mobility of Care Be Identified from Transit Fare Card Data? A Case Study in Washington D.C.”  https://t.co/DZROcdEKh6.

Painful headways. Even after cutting schedules for July, @MBTA still claims this bus comes every 15 minutes or less.

Why have a bus every 10 minutes when you can have 3 buses every 35 minutes? 🙃 #busbunching

With the #MBTA slow zones on the Red Line, maybe I'll take the #1 bus, which is supposed to come every 10 minutes. *checks real-time arrivals* 😭

"Some of our discomfort arises from not wanting to, or knowing how to, process seeing that our society is persistently failing people. Transit is the site of this discomfort because it is one of the remaining truly shared public spaces in our society." https://t.co/mchK13TJIU

This post builds off David Zipper’s article “How to save America’s public transit system from a doom spiral”. Yes, I know I missed the two-day lifecycle of stories on the internet, but I was busy. …

"A lot of the transit safety conversation is actually about the discomfort and fear that comes from being in proximity to people whose actions we cannot control or always predict. To ride public transit is to come face to face with a wide cross section of society."

This. "My biggest risk as a transit rider comes from crossing the street to get to the bus stop, not other riders. Transportation advocates need our narratives to match the real risks so we can get the policy attention on the right things."

We're proud to announce MetROW, the watery transit option for those who don't mind rowing the boat. Our Metro Coxswains are here to help you huff, puff and get where you're going. 🎣 allowed. Eat 🐟 with extreme caution. #April 1

Forced and mandatory parking minimums are contributing to our housing and climate crisis. Outdated parking standards need major reform in downtown cores and along impacted rail and transit lines. We are working on a major federal bill to address this challenge.

@CALFIRE_TUU personnel in cooperation with @USACESacramento, @OCFireAuthority and @TulareCoFire created a debris collection system at Lake Success today. This system uses a chain of booms to act as a barrier for large objects in the water that could cause blockages downstream.
