And for now, if team Trump wants to see new primary aluminum production come back to the US, I'd start by preserving the incentives already in place - and passed by Congress! - that are helping to support Century's facility. There is plenty of room for two new smelters.

So, while a new smelter is potentially welcome news, we will wait to see what kind of electricity deal Emirates is able to secure - for aluminum, securing affordable (clean) electricity is essential. See this 🎯 article from last week:

But the US is one of the largest importers of primary aluminum in the world - and our demand is only set to grow (up to +40%) over the next 10 years - see Industrious Labs' recent report:

This is a big deal - the US's primary aluminum industry has been in a steep decline in recent decades - 2 facilities have curtailed in the last 3 years, and a third failed to restart. The US only has 4 primary aluminum smelters operating today.
