Today our school announced my appointment as the next Tumuaki at Wesley Primary School. Only 10 years ago, was I on here joining in on #edchatnz hoping it would land me a job, which it did back then! Grateful, humbled and excited about the future.

My proudest achievement in the last 5 weeks as an Acting Principal is the number of times the phrase, "It's so calm here", has come up. Been thinking about moments like this for a while, grateful to have a chance to try my ideas out.

My Principal won a job closer to home (no more 90 min commutes!) and the Board has asked me to step up as Acting Principal (in Term 3) until a permanent appointment is made. Scary and exciting, will be an awesome opportunity to grow in my leadership. #edchatnz

Shoutout to @adrianbowyer and @VikOlliver for their work on the #RepRap. A friend and I built a Huxley (2012), then branched out to Prusa i3's (2013) buying parts from AliExpress. I still enjoy #3DPrinting as a hobby and have introduced my students to it since then! 👏👏👏

Any Auckland-based schools have 3D printers that are gathering dust and would like to get them going again? I helped a local school recently and I have been supporting one of our hubs to get going with it as well.

First year of my Masters journey done (ish). Last assignment submitted. Grateful for @_academyEX and how the course is structured and how they support students. Was enjoyable despite a full time job, 100% recommend for the learning and the network.

When will schools realise that there is not a conveyor belt of Ts coming our way. Stop treating your staff like they're expendable. Russell Bishop talks about not having 'deficit explanations' about Ss, how about Ts as well! Frustrating hearing stories about how Ts are treated.

I had a similar experience with another student in my first year, except it was with Minecraft. I still draw inspiration from them.

They literally light up when we get into 3D printing during STEAM. They have now coached another student to support their peers' design work, mostly through example/ modelling their own. I still have a term and half with them, but I won't forget this experience.

Getting support for this student require deficit explanations due to their academic performance. Whereas from a dispositional/ key competencies perspective I believe they would be considered gifted. Do you have students like this? How do you support their transitions?

Currently have a student that's a mind bend. They head off to Intermediate next year. Academic results would suggest they will struggle/ haven't 'accessed' the curriculum. I introduced them to 3D Printing the last 2 weeks and they coach other students alongside me.
